Benjamin Jordan will attempt a 10,000 km paragliding flight across the entire country of Canada. Along this flight Ben and crew will stop at numerous youth camps giving presentations on flight and encouraging kids to pursue their own dreams.  As Benjamin launches from each camp, he will take aerial photos of the kids, in the formation of their choosing, and collect those photos - combined with other Canadian landscape photos taken from the air and ground - into a book to be released winter 2009, proceeds to be donated to Canadian youth camps in 2010.

Above+Beyond Canada is totally inspired by positive effects that a camping experience can have on young boys and girls.  Summer camp not only provides young people with an exciting opportunity to learn activities and skills, but also enables them to develop character, social and leadership abilities and an appreciation for their natural environment.  Throughout past campaigns, we have noticed that people are more likely to give to a local cause than a nation-wide program and so have designed Above+Beyond Canada to work with charities on a provincial basis.  In short, funds raised in BC will send underprivileged BC kids to BC camps. This same paradigm will apply to each of the eight other provinces we traverse, all the way east to Newfoundland.

Our route roughly follows the U.S.A/ Canada border from west to east coast for about three months throughout the summer.  The intricacies of safely coordinating air/ground retrieval involve various  GPS systems, headsets, and satellite phones.  To keep travel expenses low, we purchased a bus – her name is Honey – which was converted into a living quarters and workstation.  Honey was wonderfully painted, by talented community members, to attract all sorts of positive attention.
