Gulf Coast Oil Catastrophe

It is natural that we want to do everything we can to help in this massive clean up that will likely go on for years. As we learned from the small Bay Area spill clean up, it isn't enough to have a desire to volunteer. There are safety considerations and training you need to have before you will even be allowed on the beaches. Learn how you can get trained and get involved.

Gulf Coast Oil Catastrophe Clean Up Information

BWB has been investigating how volunteers can get involved in the Gulf Coast Clean Up. We have learned that it isn't easy.

Hazardous Clean Up  companies are hiring temporary workers to help clean up beaches and waterways. There may be future volunteer opportunities available through wildlife groups, and we will be posting any opportunities that become available.

However, you must first have the 24 Hour Hazwoper Training only offered by private companies.  This class can be taken on-line for around $200.  Any field experience needed is provided by the company that hires you.

We have phoned several companies to ask if they will be offering their online courses at a discount to meet the demands of this oil spill, and we have not received a favorable response so far.
